Moe Say Receives Four Avenues of Service Award
Sanger
Rotary Club member Maureen ‘Moe’ Say has done just about everything
in Rotary in a more than outstanding, service above self, kind of
way. “Service Above Self” is the motto of Rotary International and,
obviously, of Sanger Rotarian Moe Say.

Moe Say with the Rotary International Four Avenues of Service
Citation. The award is a high honor, approved and signed by the
Rotary International President.
Moe was presented with the Rotary International Citation at the August 12, 2011 regular meeting of the Sanger Rotary Club by Immediate Past President Valerie Klose who nominated Moe for the prestigious award.
‘The Four Avenues of Service Citation’ recognizes Rotarians who have consistently demonstrated support of Rotary through participation in activities in each of Four Avenues of Service; Club, Vocational, Community and International, and recently through a Fifth Avenue of Service called New Generations.
Club Service
Moe is the 2009-10 Past President of Sanger Rotary Club. She has served as bulletin editor and as treasurer of the club. She currently serves as chairperson of the Rotary Field concession stand supplies, Fellowship and Social functions and annual Senior Citizens Luncheon.
Vocational Service
Maureen represents the business community with her undying work ethic. She has been for many years on the Sanger Chamber of Commerce, starting as an Ambassador at all the grand openings for new businesses. In 2010 she received the Hall of Fame Award from the chamber. She is the current Chairperson of the Board for the Chamber. When our Rotary Club does the annual Dictionary Project Maureen makes sure she is available to stamp or press labels in each dictionary, count out and box the number of dictionaries going to the designated school and volunteers to make the presentation. She did seven last year.
Community Service
Moe has always participated in Sanger Rotary’s annual BBQ and Senior Citizens Luncheon and Needy Family Project. She’s also involved in the chamber’s Farmers Markets and Children’s Halloween Parade. Every year Moe helps box the food for the designated families in Sanger Rotary’s Needy Family Project. Then she goes along on the delivery of the goods and gifts. She has also purchased trophies for the chamber’s car show. Moe always volunteers for Rotary’s Jensen Ave. Cleanup Project. She recently loaned the City of Sanger, from her place of business, giant fans to be used in case families in a mobile home park in danger of being flooded had to be relocated to an emergency shelter at the high school.
International Service
Moe has always done her part for our International Projects, whether it is to house at her place of business a fire truck going to Mexico, an ambulance being sent to Tonga or paying the fees to ship a container loaded with clothing and books to Tonga. She has always been willing to go the extra mile for our club to help those less fortunate in other countries.
New Generations Service
When Moe was President of Sanger Rotary she gave out the scholarships at Sanger High School. She donates to advertise in the Sanger High School year book and is a key person in the Sanger Rotary dictionary project. During her year as President, she was instrumental in starting a Fresno County Rotaract Club, which is a leadership and community service organization for young men and women between the ages 18–30 that focuses on development of young adults as leaders in their communities and workplaces.
