Club Service

Siosifa (Sifa) Hingano is a Paul Harris Fellow. He has served the club as Sergeant at Arms for seven years and always has the meeting room properly setup enhancing the club’s atmosphere and fellowship. He is a regular greeter at the door welcoming club members and guests to come in and enjoy the Rotary experience. He has been the club’s spiritual leader for many years, offering a heartfelt prayer at meetings. He participates in all of the club’s activities including our famous annual BBQ, Memorial Christmas Senior Citizen’s Luncheon and the Little League Concession Stand.

Vocational Service

Sifa represents the clergy well with his daily work ethic. He has been considered for several positions higher up (nationally that would cover several states) in the Methodist Conference due to his extreme ability to appeal to a diversity of cultures and races. Sifa’s church had a zero youth following when he took over as Minister, now over half the church is young people. Sifa offers spiritual guidance to Sanger High sports teams. He has built a wonderful ministry with Dance for Christ, his Polynesian dance group for Sanger youth. His ministry has spread across the state through his "Dance for Christ" dancers. Sifa sat on the executive board of the Sanger District Chamber of Commerce and remains involved with the business community.

Community Service

Over the last two years Sifa held an evening service in the Sanger Park for the homeless. Food was prepared for the homeless by the Hingano family and church members. Everyone in the community was invited. The dancers danced, the youth band played and Sifa gave a short service. He also organizes food delivery to people in need around the community and makes great food for the Sanger Football team during the season. He also put on several (free) luaus for community organizations. Sifa established a Good Samaritan house through the church for those that are down on their luck.

International Service

Sifa, originally from Tonga, has been the "father" and promoter of the solar water systems on Vavau Island, Tonga. The solar water project was adopted as a club project in International Service. When he was in New Zealand he was a hospital pastor. He still does things for the Tongans in New Zealand. He continually ships books to all the schools (grade and colleges) on the main island and his Island of Vavau. Sifa organizes all the trips that go to Tonga for the solar pumps and educational materials, including donated computers. He serves as liaison between America and Tonga. He encourages Sanger youth and adults to travel to Tonga and learn about the Tongan culture.
